Work, Meaning and Truth

As a producer, the work for me was always about the people. I found deep joy in meeting new people, both crews and clients. I loved working with them, getting to know them and then figuring out the best way to help all of them have the best experience. I have a passion for creating space in a way that is conducive to deep truths, safely and creative excavation.

I am always the person that people tell their stories and I am hungry to know them. I am fascinated by who they are and have many questions in order to understand deeply. To me, knowing others is a mode of storytelling.

After many years the physical pace of production has become challenging for me. I decided to slow things down a bit and looked inside myself to see if there was work I could do that I would love. In this investigation, I thought carefully about what were the parts of producing that I loved the most. Again and again, I kept coming back to the same truth- the people, the guidance, the support, the listening, the holding creative space.

So, I have decided to become a coach. I want to help people with their creative lives, their work paths, their relationships and their health. I want to guide them anywhere there is a challenge or an impasse. This feels like a natural extension of what I have always done as a producer. It is the part of the job that has always lit me up the most and one that will enhance my life as a producer and otherwise.

I am still and will always be a producer. I love helping creative projects come to life and want to continue to do so. And perhaps in this new role, I will help others produce not only their work, but their best lives.
